Pen & Paper – three

Sometimes I wish I’m the girls that I illustrate because I would love my hair to be that big and bigger.

I must admit that my colour palette is very grey. I’d love to say that grey is my favourite colour but it’s really a shade and anyone who truly knows me, knows that I have the most difficult time getting away from it. It’s rare when I enjoy a print for myself and when these pants appeared to me, I fell in love. It’s really a love it or hate it pair of pants and when I purchased it, a lot of people thought I was joking. Surprise! I got them and I’m going to rock them.
So lately I’ve had this obsession with fur. I love seeing it in the magazines, spreads, editorials and hangers. Recently, I purchased a recycled racoon fur scarf by Harricana and today I purchased a Mackage rabbit fur vest. I’m deeply in love with both but it isn’t cold enough in Vancouver to wear it yet. But I’m sure you can tell I’m pretty eager to stroll out of my house with the pieces on. I’m also trying to find a nice leopard piece for myself this season to wear, we’ll see.
Other than my shopaholic ways, my work life has been crazy and very different. My training is going well and it’s taking me all over the place. I don’t feel well rested and I’m trying to take everything in but work is work, right? How else will I support my shopping? Oh by way, itsgoodtobepham.COM

What I love about drawing and sketching in pen is that you don’t get to fix your mistakes. I honestly don’t mind drawing in pencil at all but with pen you get to deal with your mistakes on the spot and work your way around it. When I was younger, I use to only draw in pen and it was only until eighth grade where I started to really use pencil for art class.

It’s definitely feeling like fall here in Vancouver. It’s a few degrees cooler and it’s definitely chilly in the mornings. I get crazy looking stares because I’m wearing shorts when it’s so cool out but I try to balance it out with a scarf; you know how it goes.
Lately, I’ve also had a bad itch to shop because I’m seeing so many tempting items in stores lately. Aritzias’ Wilfred line has a few things to die for like the full jumper and some toppers. Joe Fresh has plenty to look at as well. By far my favourite collection from what I’ve seen these last few years shopping it. The commercials and ads are well styled and overly convincing. The jackets in Joe fresh are definite winners to me this season. Zara of course has some amazing pieces – when do they not? Jacob was a surprise to me with their dolman sleeve sweaters, pleated trousers and the silk chiffon blouses that should be in every girls closet. I’m also very well convinced about Gaps “Black Magic” trouser campaign. I’ve been eyeing the slim crop pants for a while and I just found out that they’re only $45.
Recently, my sister got me a steamer and I’m deeply in love with it. I could literally sit there and steam my clothes all day. I find it ultra relaxing. On another note…

On our last day in Victoria, our plan was to drive up to Nanaimo and take the ferry back to Vancouver from there but something stopped us and we decided to quickly check out Chinatown. We ended up parking the car, paying for a days worth because it was cheaper and decided we should find a place to eat.
Victorias’ Chinatown is quaint and colourful. The trees are trimmed to look bonsai and all the light posts are painted red. My expectations were none, as I sometime stroll through Chinatown in Vancouver and most of the times, I’m not overly “wowed”. After stopping from store to store, I remember walking by this alley, thinking to myself how peculiar it was. I was curious and had this urge to stroll in. Where I entered into the alley, no more than one person can honestly walk through. It was so narrow but once you got past that part, it opened up to a new area where there were apartment doors painted red, a barber shop, a vintage store, a gallery and other small shops.
It was quite jolting in a way where I felt like Alice, going through the rabbit hole. I honestly was thinking to myself, “Is this for real or what?” I found out that I was standing in Fan Tan Alley. It was originally a gambling district with restaurants and opium dens. It’s also apparently the narrowest street in Canada. The alley is narrowest point is 0.9 metres wide. Cute, eh?

This is what happens when I have a little under fifteen minutes to kill and have the urge to put pen and paper together.
